The Airbnb Community Commitment
" Hi,
Earlier this year, we launched a comprehensive effort to fight bias and discrimination in the Airbnb community. As a result of this effort, we’re asking everyone to agree to a Community Commitment beginning November 1, 2016. Agreeing to this commitment will affect your use of Airbnb, so we wanted to give you a heads up about it.
What is the Community Commitment?
You commit to treat everyone—regardless of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age—with respect, and without judgement or bias."

so if i host on airbnb and i do not want any muslim staying in my house then that is against their policy .

so, the question is , if your a host on airbnb would you accomodate a young muslim man or a woman in a burhka ?

Do muslim men wear Burkas?
I would say if you are unable to fulfil their commitment then use a different company.
Since the days of carrying ones tent on a camel are quickly vanishing...I'd say yes I'd accommodate a Muslim. With or without burka.
Of course I would - why not? And anyway, as they don`t drink they are less likely to trash the place.

Not something I would get involved with that's for sure
Just wondering if I was to book with you for a family celebration, could you arrange for a special cake to be baked?
//so if i host on airbnb //
You can't mate. There's no way your mum's gonna let you rent out her house.
I often host Muslims in my home.
"Airbnb is [apparently] the easiest way for people to monetise (eh?) their extra space"

So basically it is taking lodgers into your spare room. So my answer to dick's question is "No". I would not accomodate a young muslim man or a woman in a burhka, nor would I accommodate anybody else of either gender or of any religion. I value my property too much, I don't trust strangers enough to do the same and I don't need the money.

As I see it Airbnb are facilitating the rental of people's spare rooms (for which presumably they receive a cut) and dictating to the owners who they do and do not accept as guests. Of course it won't be too long before a disgruntled Airbnb tenant moans that they have been discriminated against and off the circus will trot. So, thanks for the "heads up" on your "Community Commitment", Airbnb but I decide who stays in my house. So I'll pass on your kind offer to find somebody who'll pay me thirty bob a night to kip in my box room.
No, I do not trust people who hide their faces, whatever creed or custom they subscribe to.

It is your house and if they demand that you agree to their CC, don't use them.

PC is getting ridiculous to the point where we are expected to ignore our own proclivity to please others.
"I do not trust people who hide their faces" Why not? I meet plenty of nice Muslim ladies at work and there is no reason that I would trust them any less than I would trust anyone else.

///basically it is taking lodgers into your spare room///

Surely you would need to be pretty impoverished to do that?
^ not necessarily. Not much different to running a B&B
“Masking up” in public is not acceptable to me. There is no reason for it and I find it offensive. As far as the proclivities of Muslim ladies go I find it even more so. As I understand it (though I’m not entirely sure if I’m right because I try not to take too must interest in religious nonsense) they must hide their features because men cannot be trusted to control their primeval urges should they display any signs of their femininity. Well I’ve news for them: most (though I accept not all) western men can control themselves. If they feel the need to go around dressed as they do they may be better off seeking a different place in which to live.
It wasn`t so long ago that Victorian women couldn`t show their ankles for the same reason.
Yes but times have moved on, 237. It is 2016, not 1860.
This is going well isn't it?

Still think it would be easier just to use a Company whose terms and conditions you like/approve of.
