I have booked a holiday for October to Egypt, I have paid deposit but have to pay up at the beginning of July. Since I booked I have had heart trouble and may need surgery perhaps. If I cancel can I reclaim my deposit and my husbands insurance - I am insured with my bank.

I think you misunderstood or I didn't put it very well. My insurance is free with the bank but my husband paid £160 for his through Thos Cook.
Just a personal opinion.

Dont know which part of Egypt, but under the currant situation, I would holiday somewhere else.
You could probably reclaim your deposit with a Dr's letter but not your husbands insurance premium
Some friends of mine have just been in the same situation - holiday cancelled because of sudden ( new, not pre-existing ) medical problem. All payments were promptly refunded by insurer, no quibbling. But this couple were both insured by the same company - things may be a little more complicated for a couple insured by different companies.
