Off to Gib again. Does anyone know which bus line goes to, or nearest to, the Top of the Rock? I have the routes but can't identify which, if any, stop to use.

How fit are you, Aeolus? We stayed by the GIB/Spain border and just took a stroll to the cable cars.

Fit as a 72 year old fiddle but not a Stradivarius. Hate having my feet off the ground, don't do cable cars. Rest of party are doing the b****y thing just thought I'd meet them at the TotR for a bevy. Don't fancy joining a tour and a singleton in a cab is prohibitively expensive. Been to Gib umpteen times and only going this time because the cruise ship captain won't bypass it. Could end up having a 5 hour siesta in Grand Casements Square.
No public transport goes up the Rock but there is the cable car just beyond the end of Main Street or you could take a taxi. It used to be a pleasant walk but we were 40 years younger. Buses run up Europa Road and if you want to walk up you can get off part way up Europa Road, the driver would tell you where. Enjoy it, a great place but vastly changed.
I think your last idea is the best having been there a couple of times. Grand Casemates Square is a lovely place to spend a few hours. The best way up the rock is the cable car but I see you don't like them. The view on good days is really good up there but watch out for the apes. I got jumped on by one of them years ago. Scared the life out of me.
