If you have access to the BBC iPlayer, can I recommend watching BBC ALBA for the next couple of hours - if it's as good as the last couple of NYEs then it will be a treat.

A bit old fashioned (and what's wrong with that?) but loads of excellent music and a distinct absence of London based nonsense.

Slainte and Happy New Year to you all

Yes it seems so long ago now Tony. Thanks S-D for pointing out the BBC Alba show. Makes a change from Jools Holland and whatever disco version BBC1 had on tonight. I don't understand Gaelic unfortunately but the music's great and somehow seems to dovetail nicely with the 12 year old Balvenie I'm currently imbibing.

We are watching Nile Rodgers and Chic very 70's although obviously i'm too young to remember their music the first time round!
Happy New Year Dave. Hope next year is good to you xx
Is Andy Stewart on ?.

Happy new year, Dave.
No, Tony....but the guy singing now is a dish...eyes to die for...

This is a great show to watch this evening....

No, Tony....but the guy singing now is a dish...eyes to die for...

Are there any gals with eyes to die for though, gness ?.

Men in tartan skirts so far - but I have hopes for the next act ... three very comely maidens with voices like angels ...
You've just missed three, Tony......especially the redhead.....x
.especially the redhead.....x

Heart say's WOW, head say's Arrrggggggg.
Ahhh.....go with the heart, Tony.......you'll not regret it...... ;-)
you'll not regret it...... ;-)

I did once many years ago, gness. And boy did I regret it.
irresistable though ;-)
Well...haven't a clue what they're saying but this is worth watching just for the men.......those Scottish eyes....and the legs in kilts....I'll not sleep tonight!.......Happy Gx
Happy New Year!

Andy Stewart has been dead for years.

It's lovely, gness - the music not the kilts - I'm loving every incomprehensible minute of it.

[ it's probably just a song about a man with a big tractor stealing someone's love - but it sounds great ]
I'm always weary of men on big tractors, Dave. Don't ever trust them, while your back is turned there chatting up your girlfriend.
Andy Stewart was a (distant) relative of mine. Used to have to watch The White Heather Club when he was on.
The music is wonderful, Dave....the whole thing is....
I have celebrated NYEve in a few countries but with their traditions and music the Scots have nailed it nicely.....
Calibax....The White Heather Club may not be to everyone's taste now.....but it was enjoyable....x
I remember it well from when I was a kid, Calibax.
Yes it seems so long ago now Tony.

I noticed a lady dancing enthusiastically at the start of the programme....
She's now sitting quietly with one arm in a sling..... :-)
