getting married in lapland
1 Answers
my son and his fiance had booked to go to Lapland to get married in Levi on 9 Jan 06, the tour operator Canterbury Travel has told them today that it is cancelled due to not enough people on the flight. We were wondering if we could arrange everything ourselves, flights available for 7 Jan 06 to Helsinki but not sure of internal flights also if anyone has been married in Lapland and has info on arranging paperwork etc it would be helpful as travel company have let them down with that also

Levi is served by Kittil Airport (15km, 9 miles). The airport's website http://www.ilmailulaitos.fi/airport_kittila states that the only scheduled airline using the airport is Finnair. (Although there are also [expensive] air taxi services available).
The Finnair website shows inclusive return fares from Heathrow from 291 (with long waits in Helsinki) or, if you've found some cheap flights to Helsinki, Finnair can get you from Helsinki to Kittil for 133 Euros (about 93) return:

If you need to sort out some accommodation, then contact the Finnish Tourist Board in London. Their web site is here:

Hoping that this might help,
