I'd be fine in First Class. :-)
Wouldn't bother me so long as the gin kept flowing...
Hell, but well worth the avoidance of a two-leg journey - first or a very good club class preferably.

17 hours of Gin. Crikey. I think the Aussie authorities might be waiting for you on arrival. And an ambulance.
Question Author
Yes, I suppose I meant cattle class. The devil’s in the detail, eh.
Hell for me whatever class but then I'm a nervous flyer and can spend hours in a panic if it's bumpy. I couldn't do it.
Just done 12 hours London to KL Economy. I guess an extra 5 hours will make little difference.
I had a free bar on a 12-hour BA flight to the Turks & Caicos some years ago. Time positively flew by (no pun intended).

12 hours from London to Kings Lynne. Wow.
Question Author
Yes NoM. A 4 hour flight to Turkey was almost instantaneous due to £200 of vodka between 4 of us.
It's my idea of hell, but a two leg journey would be more hellish, so I suppose I'd suffer it.
It is pretty amazing though.

'the old “kangaroo route” between Australia and the UK was once “seven stops and it took four days. But way back then it took 42 days by boat to travel to the UK.'

17 hours is nothing really.
It isn't, until your enduring it ;)

I think I might get cabin fever after about 11 hours (which is the longest I’ve done to date). I’m about to do a two stager (7 hrs & 8hrs) so I’ll reserve judgement. Never done it before.
Zacs, coming back off holiday last year we did 6.5 hours from Boston to Reykjavik and missed our connecting flight so Icelandair then flew us to Glasgow - Amsterdam - Birmingham to get us home. THAT was a hellish journey!
Question Author
Ouch! Why did you miss the flight?
16 hours is my longest - Houston to Tokyo direct on a 777 - fine but I was in Bus-First....glad to get off and stretch though - jetlag wasn't too bad.....
Question Author
So if there are planes which can do 16hrs non stop, why the fuss about an extra hour (and possibly 20 mins). Is it just the destinations?
Just a new record, ZM. Same plane, probably, but the places slightly further apart.

I’d consider it if I wanted to go to Perth (which is a nice place) but if my ultimate destination was somewhere else I’d try to break the journey nearer halfway.
Good news and well worth the money. Dubai airport in the middle of the night isn't that alluring.
