hi i am shortly going to tenerife on my first all inclusive holiday. Can u take drinks to your room? what time of day do they start serving drinks (tea and coffee) from. I like decaff tea - if i took my own t bags, would they give me the hot water/milk, or do i need to take a travel kettle?
do they generally serve spanish food, or is there at least a choice of local food, or is it all just rubbish food?
Any other tips?

Your youngster might end up over indulging on the ice cream.
Sharon - we were told the Brits were the worst offenders.
Ummm, wouldn't surprise me. I used to joke they're gonna fill up their suitcase with food!!
And they all seem to get drunk on the watered down alcohol!!!!
I didn't find the alcohol to be watered down. It was the same in other bars/cafes. The wine tasted quite weak, but it wasn't, I fell over in the disabled toilets :-D
True enough, but close enough.
Down south where it's hot.
I think it unlikely you will get a kettle provided, unless it is very upmarket.

I usually take a travel kettle. Not to save money but simply that I like a cuppa when I first wake.

We've stopped in all inclusive in Tenerife and the hotel was only 2-3 stars and we got a kettle, fridge and microwave in our room; so I'd be surprised if there wasn't one in your hotel.

Usually food and drink in the restaurant can't be taken away; but anything you get from the poolside and other bars are meant to be taken away and consumed wherever you want, so taking them back to your room shouldn't be a problem.

With you being all inclusive, I also can't see a problem of asking for hot water and milk.

As for the food selection, it'll all depend on the hotel, but generally speaking there's a wide selection on offer, catering for all palates.

We usually stop at the same hotel and there is a mixture of people - some on all inclusive and some on self catering, etc. The last time we were there, we found out something new ...... the vodka that the all inclusive people get is 23% .... the vodka that paying customers get is 40% (Smirnoff). I know this, as one of the waiters showed me the bottles .... so if you ever wondered why you can drink more on all inclusive - now you know :)
