Australia
I am in my seventies and hope to travel to Brisbane in Sept/Oct to visit my sister for approx. 3 weeks. Never having been before I wonder if anyone has some advice/tips regarding Airlines, visa (how soon you need to book/apply), currency (prepaid card or Australian dollars currency)or anything else that might help. I intend to go non-stop. Many thanks

If you can stretch to £100 a day that should cover most needs. I always use Aus dollars with a card as a backup in case of emergencies. Book it as soon as you like - if you fill in all the boxes its approved pretty much immediately. Have a great time. If you can afford a side trip to Sydney its a lovely place.

even if I could fly non-stop I wouldn't; stop over in the Gulf or SE Asia somewhere and catch your breath.
Try applying for one of these if you can

No charge for using it to pay in foreign currency when you're abroad, unlike most credit cards.
