Do I need a protection for my camcord tapes when going through xray machines at airports.

i have never had any problems with my camcord tapes going through x ray machines
X-rays can cause problems with photographic film but there should be no reason to worry about magnetic media (i.e. you can take your camcorder tapes through with no problems).

Yes you should worry to be on the safe side. My cousin went to her friends wedding in Norway a couple of years ago, where she took millions of pictures. But guess what - they got ruined through the X-Ray machines. Obviously, they were not protected and not developed.
I wonder if that was why the first few mins. of my Cuba hols tape had all green queres, the pic was like behind them.
