Driving From Bratislava
Hi AB travel experts .... we're really hoping to book up a trip to Vienna in the first quarter of 2019, and have just been told that it only takes about an hour to drive from Bratislava to Vienna (or get a train from B to V). Does anyone know about this, please? All other means of getting to Vienna seem to be eye wateringly expensive and/or we have to change planes somewhere (which we don't really want to do... just wondered if someone out there might know. Hope you can help, many thanks, Chox.

Thanks, the fast ferry sounds good, particularly for our journey to Vienna from Bratislava. We are thinking about going in early March, and from the timetable, it looks as though it is running then. And it's certainly cheaper than hiring a car. Given that we still have to get back to Bratislava airport, though, not sure whether their timetable would be "sympathetic" to the flight times. But will definitely look into it a bit more. Many thanks for the suggestion.
DFDS ferries to Dunkirk very cheap from Dover - 794 miles to Vienna - many modern Sat Navs cover Western Europe - make sure you get the latest upgrades before you go - the Michelin online route planner says only about £9 tolls on that route - enter your vehicle type for a more accurate fuel estimate.
