Dharavi Slums, Mumbai

Our ship will be stopping in Mumbai, does anyone know how far by car is it from Mumbai port to visit the Dharavi slum area of Mumbai? Also any recommendations of other places to visit. We are there for 2 days. Thanks in advance

Is that a thing to visit slums? To me it feels a bit like going to the asylum to see the lunatics.

Yes you go and see the locals at work and you buy from them, clothes, gifts etc. Its not a trip to gawp at folk less fortunate, they earn their living from tourists buying their wares

It's not weird. No different to visiting the townships outside of Cape Town and the favelas in Rio. Better to visit and put money into their pockets than ignore because you don't feel safe going there

By the way, if you do go there - give yourselves plenty of time because the traffic in India can be terrible
