Hi william.
Went to EBC in 2009. Loved it immensely. The thing to remember most is the pace you set, it has to be slow. If you are flying to Lukla like I did, then Namche Bazar is a good place to take a few days out to acclimatise.
Sadly you can't see the Everest from Base Camp, but a good peak to climb is Kala Patthar, from there you can see Everest in all its glory.
Pheriche was the other place we took a couple of days to acclimatise. Hope you enjoy the experience william.
