Oh how very kind and a Happy Christmas to him or her too.
Not good at all.
He would argue that without closing the branches he is, the entire company would collapse, and no-one who have a branch anywhere.

His job is to make business decisions based on what he sees as being best for the long term future of his organisation, and that appears to mean closing branches.

It would be nice if the public who bailed out the company via the government were rewarded with their branches staying open, but that's a decision based on sentiment, and there is no sentiment in business.
this is some shutdown though, sure the staff are gutted
"TSB said usage had fallen by 17% in the past two years alone. In addition, the bank said that it had twice as many branches per 10,000 customers than its competitors.  TSB’s CEO Debbie Crosbie said the closures were part of a strategy to create a ‘modern platform’, adding: ‘The plan involves some difficult decisions, but it sets TSB up to succeed in the future. Taken together, these changes will help us to serve more customers, better, for the long-term.’ The bank said that 65% of the UK population would still live within four miles of a TSB branch following the closures."

Things change. I honestly cannot recall the last time I was in a bank.
Apart from changing old pound coins for new ones and making one enquiry about a transaction (which I could have made by phone or online anyway) , I can't recall entering any bank branch within the past decade.
If people used the bank branches, they would stay open. The only time I ever go into one is when my sister insists on sending me a cheque in the post. Everything is online in one way or another these days.
There's no need to visit a bank to pay a cheque in. All mobile banking apps have the facility to scan them and pay them in that way or, if you don't use mobile banking, you can simply fill in a slip from your pay-in book and post that together with the cheque to your bank.
People do use branches. It's one of the reasons there's always a queue when one goes. That and the determination to employ insufficient staff in order to minimize costs and maximize profits.
There's every reason to visit a bank to pay a cheque in. It's the only way to get the paying in book stamped giving one material evidence of the transaction in a single place. The problem is banks not wishing to provide basic services and telling folk tech is adequate, which it clearly isn't.
Material evidence of the transaction is not required - you can see it in your latest transactions as soon as you scan it and, unless it bounces (which it could do no matter how it was paid in), it will be available for you to spend the next business day. As for everything in a single place, it is - in your mobile app!
I wish to speak to a person when I hand over my well earned cash. I also demand a receipt. I may have to consider purchasing another property if Corbyn and his gangsters get in and take my savings out the bank. Oooops. I forgot. Mr Corbyn and MacDonnell will screw us for the property we have worked for. Perhaps I will just burn my property to the ground lest it becomes Marxist State property. :-( Yeh. Way to Go.
I don't do banking on mobile apps. Not sure I trust them and the chance of being hacked. The one time I did need the local branch of my Lloyds branch which has been closed was when my Mum died and I needed to go and speak to someone regarding the funds in her a/c.
regarding on-line banking, it's good to know that there's never been any hiccups with any of it.

ooops, there has been.

Am glad the tisbee isn't shutting in my wee town, don't bank there, we only have 3 now the Clydesdale have pulled out.
I'm so glad my TSB is not closing. I go in at least twice a month.
The girls who work there are so friendly and I get interest on my current account.
You would get interest still, whether the branch closed or no.
I don't see how one can be open within four miles of Warrington, as they are also closing the Penketh branch, roughly four miles from Warrington ! Sick to death of all this. There are always customers n my bank when I go. Glad I'm in my 'twilight' years, I HATE all this change !
I wonder what the criteria were for decision on closure.

The branch in my wee town, much smaller than many on the list, seems to have escaped.
God knows. They are closing a large bank in Warrington and a small one in Penketh - no logic as far as I am concerned !
