Some of the visitors to the Tower of London have decided that it isn’t child friendly because its history is just too gruesome. Others visiting Mount Snowdon have complained that it’s too steep, that it doesn’t offer wheelchair access, and one suggested that the paths be concreted to offer easier access. It’s a friggin’ mountain for goodness sake!

Made up stories like this are dependent on gullible people reposting them. I think the term is called click bait. The Express is well known for posting sensational claims about the weather, people click on it, thus boosting advertising revenue.

I'd go for the 'put a sock in it and get a life' option. History is history and if you can't deal with it, don't bother visiting. What about all the horrific things going on around the world now like the Australia fires and terror attacks which are documented everywhere. But also, it may just be one or two people making such comments and the media jumping on it to fill their pages.

I read somewhere that a woman holidaying in Spain complained that there were too many Spanish people around! Seriously, What The Funicular?

Next thing will be some idiot going to see the northern lights then reviewing the trip as disappointing as they didn't see anything as it didn't happen or it was too cloudy.

it would depend on the complaint. there are just some activities that will always be beyond the reach of some, that's just a fact. climbing mountains will be beyond the ability of all but the determined, or those with an extensive support network. the owners of Snowdon could make one of the paths to the summit universally accessible but it would cost millions and would still be unusable to those who weren't supremely fit or blessed with a vehicle whose batteries could cope. thus its benefit would be to a section of society that would be infinitesimally small, with no return on the investment or continued upkeep. Unreasonable? Yes, when you consider that for the cost of a train ticket the disabled (and their wheelchair) can already reach the summit.

Absolutely everything on TripAdvisor - Eiffel tower, Grand Canyon, the continent of Asia - you name it - there's always about 5% of reviews saying it's rubbish for some ridiculous reason or other.

"Antarctica was a huge disappointment. It turns out to be just a very cold place with lots of ice and no shopping malls. They wouldn't even let us take a penguin home. Avoid. (1 star)".

That kind of thing.

It's quite obvious to me that many postings on Tripadvisor are fabricated for effect. Take them with a large pinch of salt.

it's a good way to boost visitor numbers, more people visiting = more people writing on tripnitpickingadvisor that they thought the ''attraction'' was great etc etc

Trouble with that is it's more likely to increase home-grown than foreign (and there's a flaw in that thinking too)
