We're off on a mini break to Padstow for 3 days at the end of November. Are there any must see or things to do whilst we're there? We'll have the car so can travel.
A day at the Eden Project may be worth the visit. Tropical temperatures in the biomes too. If you don't want to drive or have parking duties most towns in Cornwall have a dedicated bus service there. You can pay the entrance fee on the bus and walk straight in without queuing. Means you can have a beer in the very good cafeteria as well.
Padstow is on the north coast of Cornwall and the Eden Project is in the south. I do not believe there is any direct bus service between the two. The best journey I can find is Padstow to Bodmin Parkway then a train to either Par or St. Austell, then another bus from there. Looks like three hours. Or about forty minutes by car.
There is always Heligan or the Leach Pottery and Tate in St Ives. A day trip to the Isles of Scilly via helicopter at Penzance. Depends what you like doing.
Didn't go awol Rocky ... had to go out. That was the reason I recommended the Eden Project bus. You are not sent off for a mile walk back in the car park and the prepaid ticket means no queuing. May not be so busy off season though, so perhaps the tripper bus service is taken off. Another tip if you do go. I am sure that in the biomes foyer there is a facility to hire a locker. Do it. It may well be cold out but the desert and tropical zones do what it says on the tin. You can take them in wearing shorts and tshirts without having to tote your clobber round with you. Then put your warm clobber back on when you go back out. It is some while since we visited but I am sure that facility is still offered.
You can get money off the Eden project (and tons of other places) if you’ve got a lottery ticket bought from October 1 (I have a spare one if you like the details).
Lost gardens of Heligan in preference to the Eden Project for me. Would also recommend the ice cream shop in Padstow, even if you are going in November
Nice to have a ride out to Bedruthan Steps ( between Padstow and Newquay ), you won't be able to go down the steps on to the beach though as it's way to dangerous at that time of the year but the views from the cliffs are fantastic ( probably see a few seals as well ).
