The unit provides 880 lumens of light, which is roughly the same as a bulb that you might use as your main source of light in a bedroom. (i.e. it's not as bright as the lighting you might like to have in your living room or kitchen but it's brighter than the light from a desk lamp or bedside lamp). That would seem to be bright enough in my view.

At just 10W, it will cost next to nothing to run. (You'll get about about 5 hours of light for just 1p). All you need to worry about is as to how easily (or not) it can be connected to the mains power in your home - but that's going to be the same whichever lamp you decide to buy (unless, of course, you change your mind and opt for a solar one).

The connections are already there from when I had a coach lamp.
I noticed a few people said the cable could have done with being a bit longer, but it didn't seem to be too much of a problem.
No point getting a solar one. I have those in the gutter and they only light up in the summer.
I'm on the wrong side of the road, the sun is always in the back.
