Does anyone know the film for TV that was about a woman scientist who discovered time travel? She used to go back in time and kill evil murderers before they could commit horrendous crimes. Unfortunately the time travel had destructive affects on her health and was killing her. She was pursued by a female detective, trying to solve the murders, who eventually took over from the scientist eliminating the baddies. Thank for all replys.

It was the first episode of the new Twilight zone and the actress was Amanda Plummer

It was an episode of the Outer limits "a stitch in time" the detective was Michelle Forbes (Ro Lauren in STNG)

You are right loosehead it was The outer Limits I've always got mixed up between the two shows. Not one of Amanda Plummers best roles.
Yeah a great story though, one of the better outer limits episodes.
It was a cracking idea wasn't it ? the idea that you could go back in time and put the yorkshire ripper to death before he killed anybody. Or the green river killer, or son of sam or any of the other scumbags out there.

Pity it was done on a small budget, it could have been an absolute cracker of a big screen film.

yeah but going back in time to erradicate a murderer (for example) before they commit a crime could not happen could it? Simply because if you did, then the crime did not happen. If the crime did not happen then you would not need to go back in time to stop it. If you did not go back in time and stop it, it would happen (im getting dizzy now!) maybe it was explained in the show as i dont beleive i saw it.
Temporal stories in Sci Fi are always flawed, you have to suspend logic, that's part of the fun. Trying to think it through creates a paradox every time! So just let it wash over and enjoy the story. That's what I love about Sci fi generally it just makes you think in different ways.
