Ken yes I flew over in a smallish plane, I was terrified lol
We did the hurtigrunten cruise and saw the northern lights. It’s probably the only cruise I’d ever do, it’s not a posh dress for dinner type of thing and no evening entertainment, which suited us perfectly.
It was very interesting and we did a number of trips from the various ports it stopped at but as it’s only a relatively small ship there weren’t hoards of people disembarking.
I’d recommend it.
We did a helicopter trip over the Hoover Dam and along the Grand Canyon, landing at the bottom for a champagne breakfast. It was amazing.
//Northern Lights? You could start with Blackpool...//
That reminds me of Corrie when young Sam told Audrey he would love to see the northern Lights. She said, 'Oh so you'd like to go to Blackpool then.'

Vagus, I like the sound of that. Have you got a link of the one you did ?
I've seen the Northern Lights on many occasions. I grew up on the North Norfolk coast where they put in an appearance from time to time.
I’m sorry I haven’t tamaris, it was quite a few years ago.
We flew out to Norway to pick up the ship, cruised the fjords, did some excursions (a Viking experience, an ice hotel, husky sledding, a coach trip to another port which the ship sailed to so we could see something of the countryside).
It was a very nice way to see the fjords, the northern lights, and a little of Norway itself.
The food on board was very good, the staff very helpful, the accommodation clean and comfortable.
Tamaris/ Just google Hurtigrunten Cruises.
For those who have seen the Northern Lights, is there a better time of year?

We went to Grand Canyon on our tour of USA. I didn’t feel the need to fly along it, I found it just as impactful from the edge. Go Ken and enjoy Vegas while you’re there!
how about a bungee jump from a helicopter over the Grand Canyon?

Will Smith doing it - though some may say after his Oscar 'assault' that his rope should have been tampered with.

Apparently there is one with a drop of 5000 feet - you get two seconds to go - and if you hesitate fear takes over and you stay put.
I think this is the nearest I will get.
