Transporting Cats - One Or Two Boxes?

I have two kittens to take to see the V-E-T tomorrow.

I have one large cat box and one small cat box.

They will both fit in the large box, no problem (and they spend half of their life snuggled up together on their bed).

Question is, do I stick them both in the large box? Or do I put one in each box?

Fors and Againsts the large box:

FOR
is that they HATE being separated.
I can handle one box easier than two.


AGAINST
if one does a protest poo, they are both liable to end up covered in it.
At the V-E-T end I have two little escapees to deal with rather than one at a time.

I just want them as non-stressed as possible.

One in each box. If you put them in same box all hell could break loose and you have no alternative .

I would go with two, if they are placed close together they can get comfort from proximity. Two would make it easier for the vet and less stressful for the waiting cat

I always take piper and bolly in the same basket for 11 years now.
They would be traumatised if I split them up

I would suggest two - when Mitzi was taken to Vet by car, she sometimes was sick before arriving and clean-up was necessary.

Together, the vet won't be fazed by a protest poo. They will be less stressed .

Oh I remember when our cat did a protest poo. All windows open and my head out as far as I safely could.

and you were wondering which half of the cat to put in which box

Is this like a Schroedinger's cat question - you can know which cat is in which box but you can't know which cat has pooed in which box till you've opened them.

Immediate panic with two boxes. In one they settled immediately and were such good girls. Clean bill of health, vacs and microchip all done.

So pleased that you took them in 2 - with ours if then have a favourite we have been known to take both even if only one needs treatment.
For example when we had piper spayed with took Bolly too as it kept her calm - the vet kept Bolly with her all day so that we she came too she was lovely and calm as she had Bolly to cuddle up to.

Remember that they are smarter than humans.

Next time they nerd to go to the vet you will feel confident that all will be okay.

Trying to coax a cat out from under your bed only minutes before the appointment makes your hair curl and the patient learns more human swear words!
