Your passport counts as a visa for a certain period of time (usually for about six months).

New security regulations now require a biometric passport or visa. that is a passport or visa with an imprint of your retina on it. You will not be allowed in the country with a passport alone (if it just has your picture in it). The pasport office can provide information.

I thought that was only if you obtain your passport after a certain date? My husband had no problem travelling on his British passport in and out of America before I moved here.
