Permanent straightening
2 Answers
Hey. This is a question about that permanent straightening treatment that you can get at hairdressers. Basically I ruined my hair through excessive straightening so it's now very dry, frizzy and brittle and so I either scrape it back into a bun or straighten it which is obviously not very helpful in the long term. Because my hairis brittle I've also got frizzy bits of hair at the hair line which have broken off and now just stand on end and look static constantly. Basically I'm not so concerned with having poker straight hair, it's more a case of having smoot frizz-free hair and I was wondering whether this sort of treatment does smooth like straighteners do or whether it just makes hair straight. Also, I'm worried about the effect of the treatment on my hair. Will it make it much drier and then even more brittle? I seem to have quite thick hair but actually I've got a lot of very fine hair which is partly why it breaks so easily I think. Also when I straightne my hair now it goes very sttaic and so I don't really brush it ever - would this be sorted out by permanent straightneing? Any advice or info would be much appreciated particualy from those of you have tried such treatments. (I have non-afro carribean hair by the way). Thanks very much in advance xxx

Your hair is not in the correct condition to have that amount of chemical on it, it will just snap off. Definiely have regular conditoning treatments...use leave in conditioners. Try not to blow dry your hair too much and use Serum and Shine Sprays (which you can buy in supermarkets etc) to help with the frizziness! Hope this helps!
