thailand, pattaya question

i was on honey moon in pattaya and noticed all the young girls trying to pick up western men. What do the girls get out it if they are not prostitutes.

Whatta mistake to make - going on honeymoon to Pattaya - bit like taking coals to Newcastle.

- First, the young girls were not as young as they looked

- Second, what they got out of it was

- - money

- - a break from the grinding work and poverty of village life in northern Thailand

- - a chance to support their family

- - the possibility to meet and marry a (to them) very rich westerner
