passport expiry

We would like to go somewhere warm at the beginning of march. but my boyfriends passport expires in less than 6 months. Can we only go to European places, and are the Canaries included?

Canaries should be OK - also Florida, South Africa.

Just about anywhere in Europe is OK - outside there is no general rule. Some want 6 months, some 3, some just valid for the visit.
