Please explain what a major airport is.

My answer would be 5, maybe 6 - Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and maybe Darwin.

I'm sure others will say surely xxxx is a major airport.

I'd count these as 'major':

Adelaide
Brisbane
Canberra (Domestic flights only but still a reasonable size)
Darwin
Hobart
Melbourne
Perth
Sydney
