Does anyone believe that this beautiful bird will grace our skies again?

I find it incredulous that a substitute or replacement has not been created all this time.

i work in the airline industry at heathrow airport,,, and i do not think concorde will ever fly again,,, which is a shame as it was a beautifull bird,, and i had always wanted to fly in it but never got the chance to do that...

i do not think they will build a simular plane like concorde yet,, they might in the future if it can fit a lot more passengers that 100 like concorde did,,.,,

Thanks for your feedback mate.

It's really upsetting to see such a beautiful piece of machinery sitting in the Museum of Flight in East Lothian.
It must be the only time the aircraft industry has taken a step backwards. Having said that, the jet engine in 2006 is only a refined version of what Frank Whittle invented over 60 years ago.
Surely some company must be working on an alternative....or do we have to wait for warp drive and tranporter beams as in "Star Trek"?

ianess - I wholeheartedly agree with you.

I think that it is criminal that these once Queens of our skies are now only pieces in museums. I would love to think that someone, somewhere, is on the same wavelength!

don't think it will ever fly again due to the fact that aerospatiale said they would not make any more spares for this terrific airliner.trust the bloody french eh!

Concorde was built more for political reasons than commercial ones and was a financial disaster. Companies are likely to tread very warily before repeating the mistakes of 30-40 years ago and politicians are (famous last words) marginally wiser too.

Am I right in thinking that Richard Branson wanted to take it on? Which would follow on from dzug's post - RB would have made it a commercial success and that would have been embarrassing for the government.
