Hello,
Going to America soon for the first time and I was just wondering who the best trans atlantic airline is supposed.
They all seem to be the same price but wondering who is best in terms of comfort, leg room, entertainment etc.

Try Seatguru.com They give a lot of info on seating pitch, leg room & best seats to choose. From experience: You will need at least 33" pitch.
For some reason ( price mainly) I have travelled to the States by BA. Virgin. American, Delta and I found them all the very good but given a choice I felt Virgin just beat the lot of them.

If money is no problem to you, I would recommend Virgin Atlantic - Upper Class. It is heaven! There is a bar in the cabin where you can order your drink and take it back to your seat, or if you are a little tense and stressed about the journey you can unwind with a massage!

BA Club World was pretty impressive too. The list that Fish the Mod has compiled is pretty good, and I would like to add United Airlines to it.

we flew virgin to new york recently, they were great, better then ba
yup, im a Virgin flyer :o)

American Airlines used to have a bit more legroom than most, but are refitting back to normal. Don't know how far they've got.

Flying with a US airline gives you a sporting chance of getting through customs and immigration a bit quicker both ways - outwards because there's fewer Brits for them to deal with at one time, and on return because most passengers will be American and have to join the non-EU queue.

Used American recently, never again. Hard seats, and on the outward leg abrupt cabin staff & captain, and very stingy with the food. Had to break in to spare Mars Bar pack to keep going. I'm not a big eater either; god knows how the hungrier-than-me managed! Return trip: crew much more pleasant but even less food! Although the outward was an early morning flight - maybe we had the captain who was banned yesterday for being drunk - hangover, perhaps?
I always go Virgin .. and if you get there early enough you can usually get the exit seats, plenty of leg room, you might have to pay another 50 but its well worth it.

Once you decide on a carrier go here to see if they are any good: http://www.airlinequality.com/
