Venice Hotel Recommendations
Can anybody recommend a hotel in or near Venice for our holiday (4 days at Easter). It needs to be (in priority order) -
- Able to accommodate a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 children aged 5 and 7) i.e. a large room or 2 adjoining.
- Target price for accommodation is a total of 500 or less for the 4 days. (Is this unrealistic?)
- Within the city itself, or a short bus (?) journey away.
Personal recommendations preferred.
Thank you.

They offer free B&B to U16s in parents' room and are a good standard chain. Have used them several times, although not this particular one, and always been happy. You usually get a double bed, a bed settee and a rollaway.

Have you thought about whether talking young children to Venice is really a good idea?
I've been to Venice twice and would not really consider it a particularly child-friendly place. Most of the tourist attractions are museums, churches and other old buildings with horrendous queues when we've been before.
There's also a lot of walking that has to be done, most of the canals are open so very easy for a small child to fall into and it's very expensive. It could also be very cold and damp at Easter.
I certainly would not have taken my children to Venice and, if you want a holiday that's in any way relaxing, I would recommend that you think about it very carefully.
