Does anyone know if there is a limit to how much time you've got left on your passport to travel? I know it probably varies depending on the country. I just want to know for Spain. My passport runs out in August and i haven't wanted to send it away to be renewed because i wasn't sure when i was going away. I mean, can you return home the day before your passport runs out (obviously not a very good idea!) or does it have to be a month/week etc?

The passport needs to be valid for at least three months on entry to Spain, including 90 days beyond the date of intended return. Further information here:

Thank you!
It's six months for any Caribbean Countries after return to Uk

That web site is spouting garbage. It quotes the worst case for a non-British passport holder, not a general rule. And I really don't believe the 'yes' under 'return ticket required'

Assuming you have a UK passport it just needs to be valid when you leave Spain. In fact I've seen one source that I believe to be reliable that says a UK passport up to one year out of date is OK in Spain. I wouldn't want to rely on it though - Spanish Immigration knows it but the airline taking you there probably doesn't and won't let you board.

Still a good idea to renew your passport though - it will be valid until August 2016 and you'll miss out on any fees increases in the meantime
