Ok if you're going to that region, don't stay at Sequoia. It's just trees (they're worth seeing cos you can't even imagine they're enormity but that's it - oh and we saw some bears - but you don't need to stay there). Yosemite National park is so much better. There's loads to see there - walks in the valley, Yosemite falls, bridal veil falls, el capitan, etc, etc.

There's loads of different types of accomodation depending on what your budget is from camping to hotels.
Totally disagree with flip-flop, Yosemite was the most over commercialised National Park of all the ones we vistited on our 'Grand Tour'. Had far more fun with the trees. Can't help with accommodation as we camped everywhere.
Sequoia is lovely, but can't compete with the grandeur of Yosemite (I recommend you go to both). When we went to Sequoia we stayed in the Holiday Inn in Three Rivers, which was fine but I remember it was difficult to find a restaurant for dinner, because you're in the middle of nowhere they were expensive. The road going through the park takes absolutely ages because it zig zags up the mountains.
