Does anyone know if a UK tri-band mobile phone works in Australia? And Malaysia?

Yes it does. A UK dual band phone would work in Australia and Malaysia.


It's only the US that have different frequencies to the rest of the world (in theory you could use a UK dual band phone in the US as long as it was set to the right frequency, ie. one UK band and one US band - but I won't bore you with all that).

Surely Tri-Band phones work everywhere don't they, as there are only three bands commonly used for mobile networks.
Beemer, tri-bands do not work in Japan, Argentina or Myanmar (and probably others I haven't been to)
