Malaria Tablets

If you have ever had a course of malaria tablets please could you tell me which brand it was and what your side effects were...

I need to have some but some people I know had horrible side effects with certain ones like throwing up all the time, and other ones seemed to cause none.

Malarone - apparently it's the most expensive as its relatively new. But I didn't have any side effects at all.

I would have to agree with Sassenach, I have used Malarone many time and have found no side effects. Its the cost of it that puts most people off. I think its around �40 for a weeks course (15 tablets).

I took a course of Larium and had no side effects whatsoever. I was reluctant to take it after reading about the various side effects but I was told at the time (back in 2000) that this was the most effective drug for the areas I was visiting (Zambia and Zimbabwe). The type of anti-malarial drug you take will depend on the area you are visiting, so go with what your doctor recommends.
