Can I still use my passport

My passport expires on the 3rd of October 2006 but i am due to go to majorca between the 22nd and 29th of april 2006 so will only have 5 months left on my passport can i still use it to travel or do i need to renew it before i go?

Within the EU there are no problems with travelling right up until the last day of your passport's validity.

and for Spain (only) you can technically use an out of date passport for up to one year. Wouldn't want to try it though.

It could be an idea to renew anyway - you will avoid any potential fees increase and your unexpired months will be added to your new passport - ie it will expire on 3 Oct 2016.

sorry, i forgot to say thats based on travel to spain in general, so will be fine for the balearics (3 months after your return date) taking you upto the end of july, and yours doesnt expire til oct.

Just as a byword, there a lots of Brits living in the Balearics with expired passports - no one sems to bother much, unless they commit a crime.
