Need tips on hotels sydney

I am going to sydney. I don't want to stay in big chain hotels. Any ideas for quality, clean, hotels near the centre.

The ANA Hotel is great, it has a fantastic bar overlooking Sydney Harbour. The Hyatt is also lovely.
