Pink double 'yellow' lines.
5 Answers
On a couple of programmes on tv recently I've noticed double pink lines on the roads in the background. What's all that about? Is it a London thing? Gay pride week? Motorist calming measures?

They designate that there is to be NO stopping at ANY time - even if you break down they will tow you. (although it has to be said that most of the traffic in London is at a standstill anyway!)

The double yellow means no parking, the double red means no stopping (for any reason - even death is not excused!).
Actually there are a few variations of the double yellow - signifying how long you're entitled to (or not entitled to in some cases) stop (as opposed to park - parking = stop and walk away from your car, stop = stop but remain in your car.)
Check out the highway code for all the variations
