Does anyone know what is the best time of year to visit China, ie in terms of comfort for touring, please?

depends where you want to go, as it's a big country. I went there one March - still very chilly in Beijing but very warm in Guangzhou; cool but pleasant in Shanghai.

Depends where you want to go. The north gets extremely cold in winter and most places are very hot in the summer. Around the start of may or in september is probably best. Kunming in Yunnan province is known as the spring city because the weather stays between 15-28ish all year round!

We went in November last year and found Shanghai really warm and sunny Hong Kong much the same but Beijing was FREEZING cold.Generally sunny weather there but so cold it cut through thermal vest, cashmere sweater and cashmere coat and pashmina when we walked on the great wall.Only advantage to this was it slightly reduced the smell of the lavatories!

In majoy cities such as Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, from Mar.to June; from Sep. to Nov. is the best season in China. Some cities in Yunnan like Kunmin, Lijiang, Shangerila, the whole year is like spring. For Tibet tour, May-Oct, is best season, for Yangzte Cruise , Sep. &Oct. is high seasons and if for resoult to Hainan winter is high season, and for skii, also it is winter to go to Harbin.
