Was in Cairo last month. Pyramids are a must, but even the camel cops want a tip if you take their photo! Hawkers are a plague and you should politely refuse even their "free" postcards. The museum is good for a couple of hours. You can get within inches of the exhibits. Try the light show in the evening at the pyramids, and lunch on a moored river boat on the Nile (arrange via your hotel). Don`t thimk of hiring a car - the roads are suicidal.
All good answers but beware of the traffic!
It seems like the only thing that's needed to pass their MoT equivalent is to have a horn that works.
The Egyptian Museum is a fantastic place but when the signs say "no flash photography" and you ignore it you have a good chance of having your camera confiscated.
