I am going to Lanzarote shortly.Should I take travellers cheques in Sterling or Euros.

Hardly anyone uses travellers' cheques these days. You get a much better exchange rate, more security and greater convenience by simply using your debit or credit card at any 'bancomat'.
If you're one of the few people who doesn't have a cash card, I'd recommend taking travellers' cheques in Euros.

Fair enough. Most banks charge you around �3 every time you use a foreign cash machine. Same sort of amount as using a credit card in a cash machine over here.
My experience of the canaries is that you get a better exchange rate over there than the banks will give you here though, so Sterling cheques are still the way forward.
