my friend is from the USA and is stuying in prague. she is going to go backpacking across europe for 3 weeks, and fly home out of barcelona. she does not want to carry all her luggage with her, but she is not returning to prague once she leaves. shipping to the US costs $600-$1000+. does anyone have any ideas on how to get the luggage to the US or barcelona without carrying it?

can she get it to Barcelona airport, leave it there in left luggage and then take it on the plane with her when she flys home? Otherwise you can do snail pace post which goes by boat and takes 3 months or something ridiculous
Apparently there is no such thing as sea-mail any more, it all goes by air and they just have it at the end of the queue to sort it out.

But for luggage, how much is she taking! even a couple of large, heavy boxes should be under $250 with a reasonable carrier

spk is right, the mailing by "boat" takes 3 months, and is just under $300. that is her last resort at this point. she has two large suitcases. i think right now she may send the unimportant stuff by boat, and the important stuff by mail. thanks for your replys.
