Start taking your baby as soon as you can - get it used to travel. the most useful bits of kit are - a seat for it so when you eat it is out of your hands - blooming marvellous do a brilliant one that you velcro to a chair from when a baby can sit up. Breasts (!) if you are feeding or dried milk and disposable bottles. Its own blanket for security. Mild soap (shower gel's fine) to wash clothes in. Airlines are good with babies - feed milk while taking off and landing to stop pressure discomfort. Get a light stroller for easy handling and just enjoy it! If you are going somewhere where you need vaccinations check with your doc about the baby becaus eyou may need to wait until after six months. Most countries (other than the UK) love babies so you'll be OK.
