Tara, i spent 10 years in germany with the armed forces you will have a great time the people are really nice youre staying right on the rhine river beutiful place dont forget your camera.

one thing, things can be quite expensive because of the euro.

You'll love Germany. I live in the south of Germany (Munich) and I've found it to be much cheaper than the UK (even in so called expensive Munich).

Most people speak English so you shouldn't have too much difficulty communicating. Not sure about Boppard but in Munich, and Celle in the north, I found that some places don't take credit cards. So you may have to withdrawer cash from a cashpoint.

The food is a bit rich and heavy but well worth trying. Most food is delicious.

Worth looking into discounted rail fare as there seems to be a few of you. The train from say Rudesheim to Koblenz is much more scenic. than the boat. The part of the Rhine your staying is really beautiful. Boppard is quite small, a stop-off for trippers, but nevertheless charming. Across the river is the monument 'Germania' A ferry to rudesheim and cable car up to it. The view is magnificent and some lovely country walks.

forgot to addthe link. there is information on quite a few Rhine towns including Boppard
