Does anyone know when holidaying in Italy, where is the the best place to go to be able to go to visit other places quite easily as we would like to see as much of Italy as possible. Thanks.

My daughter a few years ago travelled to Italy she with a friend took a cheap flight to northern Italy stayed a couple of nights in Rimini and then bought a rover rail ticket getting on and off the train when and where they liked. They visited Venice Verona Rome Pisa and their last place before flying home was Sorrento They took what accomodation they could find.

The Naples area could be a good place to start reasonably priced flights to Naples then the circumvesuviana railway round Sorrento/Pompeii if you are interested and good rail links to most of the area also good bus service to Amalfi etc. down the coastLots of public transport available
