Plane crash compensation
17 Answers
On the news tonight, a Girl aged around 16 has won Compensation because she (supposedly) witnessed a Boeing 747 Cargo Plane crash close to her home near Stansted. This got my back up because the accident happened 8 Years ago when she was 8. Looking all smug because she had won nearly 30.000 she never spoke once to the Camera. The Father did all the talking making out she was traumatised etc about the Crash. You could tell it was the result of them and a Solicitor finding a way of making some cash. You could tell the Girl was not in the slightest bit bothered about the crash. No mention of the poor crew that died on that Flight and there Families!
It seems we are following the Americans into a (Sue everybody lifestyle) I just think its ridiculous.
what are your opinions?

the father said that his daughter was alright now but that the money was for the future - just in case she suffered any trauma relating to the crash ie: flashbacks!
sounds a bit strange to me.
if this is the case we could all be suing people or organisations - just in case!!!
hope that made sense!!!!

This is the report of the Korean Air 747 which crashed after take-off from Stansted Airport in 1999 killing all four crew.
I agree with you all, its ridiculous. This blame culture will be the downfall of our country. At my little girls school garden party last week, they were not allowed to have face painting because the cost of insurance was too high. It was said that parents have been putting in compo claims to schools and suchlike, saying their kid has got a rash from the paint !! Beggers belief.
Here is the story in question.
BTW it was also reported last year that English National Trust were suing KAL for 300,000 in lost income from visitors unable to visit Hatfield Forest because of the plane crash.

Personally I wouldn't be least surprised if she does suffer from seeing this terrifying event at such a young age, although how getting all this money is going to help I don't know. Wouldn't the NHS pay for any counselling she may have needed? Why does she need more money on top of that? Let's hope she never stumbles across a DVD of Final Destination or Alive.
I think the father did it all to prove a point. In the clip i saw the father said he was told by some one shortly after the crash "don't think your getting anything out of all this" I think this got his back up so he could have made the whole thing up and got his kid to go along with it. BTW KAL settled out of court so i think he got lucky.
