How To Legally Stay In The UK?
Further to my last post: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Travel/Question 254635.html
I was wondering if there was anyone that has any experience of moving to the UK from another country to be with a partner? My girlfriend has had little success with the Mexican Embassy.
I heard about these "buy a bride" type arrangements...when you pay for a wife and then you get them here, marry them and it's done! They can't send her home! Is that right? I'd rather we get married in our own time rather than rushing into it for the sake of allowing her to stay!
My girlfriend and I love each other so much and we want to be together but we want to do it legally and properly.

the mexican embassy cannot provide any inormation on how to stay in the UK.
You will have to decide what your mexican partner wants to do in the UK. She just cannot come and stay with you here...in the same way that you cannot go and stay in Mexico for any length of time.
You may have to bite the bullet and get married as that is the only way your girlfriend can stay legally in the Uk. there is no provision for girl friends to come and stay. You must also ask yourself why Uk is the preferred place of residence, is the pressure coming from our girlfriend and is this a ruse to enter the country.many many people have fallen for this trick. I am not suggesting that this is the case with you but beware.

She could go on holiday to france, then make her way to calais. Climb into the back of a wagon and when she gets to dover get out and turn herself into cutoms officials. They will probably give her some taxi money to get to the immigration department. Once there they will provide her with a house, clothes, car and benefits.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies!
Dom Tuk, actually she would rather I went and lived with her in Mexico but I suffer in hot places due to very pale skin so she has accepted that she must come here. Thanks for your concern anyway, but it's not that way!
Pappasmurf lol! I'm sure that DOES work for many people but we really want to do this properly!
I'm gonna have to talk with UK immigration and find out what we can and cannot do. It seems a shame that we may have to get married quicker than we wanted to. :-(
Anyone else reading this that may have first hand experience in this sort of thing?
