is there anywhere one can camp in london, as in pitch tent n sleep then go home in morning, not like spending ages there kind of thing. is camping allowed in any f the parks? like hyde park or something?

There is a camp site at Crystal Palace but that is some way from the centre. Camping in the Royal Parks is not allowed.
Hello me and hubby and kids stayed at the Elms Campsite near London. It was at the loughton stop on the Central and we found it ideal for travelling and sightseeing into London. Also it was a quiet campsite.... Enjoy yourselves.

Hello again sorry but i meant to say that it is near the main central line as well on the tube.....
When I read the previous posting, my first thought was "you have got to be joking!" because I live in Loughton, and no way is the elms near Loughton station. However I suppose it is all relative. Be aware though there is no public transport, BUT, and it is a big but, if you are coming from the north by car, it is EXCEEDINGLY easy to get to. M1, M25 eastbound, turn off at Waltham Abbey, follow the signs round the roundabout towards Loughton, go up Woodridden Hill a hundred yards or so and turn right past the Volunteer Pub into High Beach.

There is also another site nearby, this one nearer to Debden station (one stop on). Again, no public transport, but if you are walking, it's only about half an hour away from the station, and from either Loughton or Debden, central London is only 40 - 45 minutes away.
