Going to Los Angeles in September.
Can anyone advise me how people in Los Angeles travel about the city if they don't have a car. Is there an ciy bus service ?.

rent a car - it really is the only way to see all the sights (they are spread out one from another - not centrally located).

If you cant, there is a bus service - but it is fowl. If you are staying in the downtown area, there is a Metro or subway. Just ask at your hotel or lodging and they sh'd provide you with a map. Have fun!

Public transport in LA? Well, it exists but I wouldn't recommend it. As metagirl says, rent a car or use a cab. I should warn you I'm biased - of all the places I've been to in the USA LA is my least favourite and the only one I'd never want to go back to. But don't let me put you off.....what doesn't suit me may well suit you!

There are buses but they are geared more to home/work /shopping journeys from poorer areas than to taking tourists to sights.
However, if you've got the time and the patience you can probably get to most places, eventually.
