kenya safari

HI, i'm wanting to go to kenya and do a safari, any suggestion on hotels. i've seen a hotel called papillion lagoon reef which i quite like, but local travel agents seem to be finding it difficult to book it. what about safaris? i want to make sure i see lots of animals. is there any other african countries that i could go to other than south africa. any websites that i could go on to see for my self. any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. thank you.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Depends if you just want to do a safari or combine it with a beach holiday.We went to Kenya a couple of years ago and stayed at Watamu Beach which was a lovely hotel built African style right on the beach,we even had weaver birds nesting in the central oper air area of the hotel.From there we did a few days safari to Tsavo east where we stayed in tents complete with air con. and excellent shower rooms etc.loads of hot water swimming pool and every convenience in and out of the tents plus a very good(taking into account the drawbacks they faced) restaurant.We were able to watch hippos and crocs from the tent doorway and had to be careful to keep various breeds of monkeys out of our tents plus a plentitude of animals on the game drives.All this combined with a stay on the really warm Indian Ocean made it a memorable holiday
Kenya's probably the cheapest and most convenient. South Africa is pretty good too. Both have good accommodation, and you can can arrange beach/safari holidays in both. Tanzania and Zambia are great but less organised (which may be a good or bad thing). Zimbabwe is out of favour, and I think a lot of animals have been poached; Botswana is good but expensive.
