There were loads of day trips and the trams to get you about. The weather was the same as the north west generally and it was no more expensive than the UK. The countryside is breathtaking, really beautiful and unspoilt on the most part. The beaches were lovely too. I would recommend it for a long weekend to begin with.
hubby & me went for a week in june, (first time) really enjoyed it, we stayed in b&b in douglas, go to tourist info at the sea terminal & get a rover ticket and you can travel all over the island on the trams, steam trains, buses, electric railway & the horse drawn trams , we paid 35 for the week & it saved us a fortune as you can go anywhere & everywhere on them, (there are also 3,5 day ones as well), weather is similar to england, the people are so friendly & helpful, we found a lot of pubs that did good meals for the evening : 2 for 6, etc, as jiggy-jb says the countryside is marvellous, the beaches are beautiful , there's so much to see and do , the prices aren't that much different from england , and hopefully me & hubby are going back next june, so yes, i would definitely recommend it, go for it, it really is a fantastic little island :-)
do try to get to Peel, there's a bar restaurant there on the quayside does amazingly good meals.....sorry I can't name it, but it's quite a big place. last year I had the terrible choice of the lobster, sea bass, or t-bone steak to choose from.......all at 4.50 each!.and the kipper factory is well worth a visit, if you can stand the smell! take a drive(if you're taking the car) around the TT circuit, (it's all public roads) then you'll see the whole island....37and a bit miles....the bikes do it in less than 20 mins! I found prices much the same as the rest of the UK, if not a little cheaper. have a nice time.
Hiya
I would definitely recommend it, i have my aunt & uncle over there & have been twice. I absolutely adore the place! It is stunning, and when im slightly older I plan on moving out there. Its not expensive and the weather is pretty similar.
Douglas is a nice place, watch out for horse n trams though!
