it's a good place for families: lots of sports and outdoor activities for kids, and a pleasant lifestyle for older people. It's the middle-aged who may have to think about it. Winters are dull and wet (though, in the north at least, the days aren't too short) and there's not so much to do: a smaller population means fewer shopping malls, fewer art galleries and so on. This is all part of the more relaxed lifestyle, but be sure you can cope with it. Also, are you sure you won't be overwhelmed by homesickness or missing granny? People are generally friendly and prices a bit lower than in the UK. I've known people who went to live there and loved it; I don't know anyone who's come back, but some certainly do.
