Gef - Where do I start ??
We were staying on Kurfurstendam, which is mega good for hotels, shops, bars and restaurants. In fact couldn't have stayed in a better location. Took a bus & boat tour - cost about 28 euros, well worth it. Visited the zoo, walked thru' the Tiergarten (large park) all the way up to Brandenburg gate. Beyond this is Unter den Linden, a beautiful walk, with heaps of historic buildings e.g. the Reichstag and Humboldt University. Up this way there are heaps of museums if you like that sort of thing. You can keep going this way to Alexanderplatz, the old heart of East Berlin.
Checkpoint Charlie & the remaining standing part of the wall are worth a look - as is the Olympic Stadium. Potsdammer Plaz is great for large modern buildings, with some good bars. Great restaurants around the Hackescher Market in East Berlin.
Just a thoroughly modern city, with great new buildings and a good vibe. It is so vast that although there are a lot of people you don't feel crowded. The underground railway at about 6 euros for a day ticket is a great way to get around if you get bored walking.
