New York
I'm off to New York with a friend soon. We are both too old for "discos" but wondered where we could go for a good night out ,where two *"girls"* of 50 would not look out of place, with music of course, nothing posh.....
any ideas ??

We had great intentions of going back to the hotel, getting changed, having something to eat, finding some nightlife etc. Not a chance! There's is so much to see we ended up eating out in whatever area we happened to be in and then going back to the hotel to collapse into bed! One night we did go to the theatre (booked on line before we went, another night we went up the Empire State (did Top of The Rock during the day). Have a fantastic time.
I am not so familiar with that area since I was at uni on 116th and Broadway, but here are 2 near you that people seem to like:
Have a look at:

And for a great margarita and some cowboy fun: http://www.rodeobar.com/
There is also a bar at the top of the Shelbourne Hotel that has an incredble view.
Enjoy your holiday!

We did the same spudqueen, night life just didn't happen for us, so this time we're going to "pace" ourselves - we'll see !
Thanks for links drestie, we stayed at the Shelbourne Murray Hill last year but the rooftop restaurant was closed as it was winter, but they did let us on to take photos - fantastic views. Thanks again.
